dolphincoat is a supplier of applied metal coatings. “Supplying a better environmental alternative…..”
The Present
We are based and ship from the West coast of the U S A and over the last six months have set up distribution serving the cruising community based in the Loreto / Puerto Escondido area in Baja Mexico. Whilst there we had the opportunity to apply dolphincoat M300 to several boats including the tender (see picture above) for the marina operator Singlar. This area in particular in the Sea of Cortez is well known for its sever fouling conditions, so it is an opportunity to observe the antifouling properties of M300 in a warm water environment.
The Past
Like a lot of good ideas born in America sometimes you got to take them across the pond then bring them back…….. the developer/manufacture did just that. Distributed in Europe by Verometal ( http://verometalmarine.com ) Just recently approved in France home of the European Unions equivalent of the EPA, and approved in Great Britain (H S E approval No8685) Germany (N-35042) .
Having spent more than three years in Europe being applied to and tested on boats in some of the foulest cold water conditions .Now M300 is back where it started.
The Future
As the use of leaching cuprous oxide in traditional bottom paint technology becomes obsolete, Being banned in more and more countries. The alternative M300 not made of cuprous oxide, but 99%+ pure copper. That encapsulated in resin is a way to still have the time tested antifouling properties of copper and minimum damage to the marine environment. Passive leaching (the vessel just sat in the water) of dolphincoat M300 is not only 50 times less than the best of the traditional antifouling paints. It leaches less than the copper used to make water lines.. (see Technical for Test Data on adhesion and leaching )
That is the Future……..
